Nursery curtain help.........? - boat curtain rods

I have 2 tab top panels with valance comforter set for my baby. I would like curtains in a standard layered look to add - in addition to the dark room. The window is only 43 inches wide. I can not use a double curtain rod, because the tab is the border first, and double curtains and curtain rod just ugly .......... but no regular adjustment Fantasy INTHE-shaped bar at the top. All I can think of only the legs off the borders and reduce seam directly on the curtains. Any suggestions?
